Which Verizon phones do, simultaneous voice and data

I got this phone last August and was told then it was not a feature of this phone.  I asked here and a rep like yourself checked and the Verizon store said the same.  Did they add something in an update recently?  I will try again and post back.  Mary

I should say it didn't work any where and I was sure I was in a good area as all these same spots worked on my Samsung S5 to turn data on while in a call.  Every one at Verizon said it wasn't a feature on this phone.  One example is outside my house.  S5 can do it G4 can't.  Mary

Your LG G4 and the Samsung S5 both support simultaneous voice and data while you are on LTE. If it is not workign for you, you do not have the Advanced Calling feature turned on in your account and/or you do not have the Voice and Data LTE feature (VoLTE, Advanced calling - all mean the same thing) turned on on your phone. Remember, this only works when you are in an LTE area. Whoever has been telling you your phone does not support simultaneous voice and data has not been correct.

Well then Verizon doesn't know stuff.  I went into the local store and told them while I was in a call I needed to turn 4g on sometimes and couldn't likevi could on my S5.  I did have it turned on right as I knew how to do it from having the Samsung.  The store employee tried and couldn't get it to work and after checking with someone else they said it was not a feature of this phone and maybe LG would make an update for it in the future.  Asked here on the forums and was told the same.  So I don't get what the deal is.  I will try in various areas again and see.  At one point I really needed this as I had important calls coming in and would need to look something up.  I don't leave my 4G so only turn that or my Wi-Fi on when I need them.  Mary

Ok I am in an area now and it's showing 4g LTE when I turn data on and I have HD calling on.   I made a call and as I was talking turned on 4G and it goes to 1x.  Turned 4G on first made the call and it still went to 1x.  Last summer I could at least turn the 4G on first, make the call and surf if I needed too now it won do that.  My phone is fully updated.  Here is my post from last summer.  Rep said it's not a feature off this phone.  I am just curious what the correct answer is.    Mary

If it is dropping to 1x, then Advanced Calling is not set up right. The LG G4 definitely supports simultaneous voice and data.

What is your 4G LTE signal before you make the call?

If located in Alaska, it is not recommended to turn off HD Voice for troubleshooting purposes as it causes the device to roam off the Verizon Wireless network.

• If enabling, ensure HD Voice feature is enabled in billing.
• HD Voice is not recommended for customers who have a Network Extender or require a TTY/TDD device for use in conjunction with their phone.

1. Ensure HD Voice is activated.
2. From a Home screen, tap Apps > Settings .
3. Tap Advanced Calling.
4. Tap Advanced Calling to enable or disable .
5. If presented with a confirmation screen, tap OK.
   Review the disclaimer regarding billing and data usage.
   When video calling is turned on, others can see that the phone has video calling.

Ok I have 2 bars and I live in NY.  When I go into advanced calling I have activate advanced calling which is greyed out could that be the problem?  After that I have turn on HD voice/video calling and it's on.  Then I have activate Wi-Fi calling and I don't use that.  I don't understand why every one at Verizon kept saying no on this phone and couldn't make it work.  The store I go to is usually very good for help so when they said no I just figured next time I should check and make sure a phone has that feature.  Mary

It needs to be on in your account on My Verizon, and the settings above need to be on in your phone. Advanced Calling needs to be ON or enabled. You must be in LTE when you do these changes.

Why not use wifi calling? If your phone supports it, use it. It will prevent you from going down to 1x calling in low signal areas when you have wifi available.

You will find that the collective knowledge on this and other forums from users will get you more correct information than many if not most reps. 2 bars for LTE will work just fine.

I don't think you are understanding and I think my problem all along is no one understands what I am saying.  It's not about making calls at all.  My calling is fine.  On my Samsung s5 if I was some where that had no wifi and I got a call while in that call if I needed to turn on my 4G and look something up online I could while the call was in progress.  I just assumed that was a Verizon thing as I don't know much about this stuff.

Got the LG G4 last August and the first time I got a call and was not where there was wifi I tried to turn on the 4G to look something up and it didn't work.  I had to disconnect the call, turn on the 4G then call the person  back so I could see web pages while in the call but now I can't even do that.  Does this make sense what I am asking?  Being in a call and turning on 4g at the same time.  Posted on these forums and was told not a phone feature on this phone.  Went to a Verizon store and after they tried was told the same.  They said I had to turn on the 4g first but if it's working on this phone for every one else then what is my problem?  It worked perfectly fine on my S5 every where I went that had 4g.  What do I need to do in my account to get this working?  We are on a standard monthly plan.  It says more every loyal tk, txt 4gb.  Nothing changed with the plan since deactivating the S5 and activating the G4.

I don't leave my 4G on as I travel across the border to Canada so have to put my phone in airplane mode and I am worried if I were to forget to do that and the 4g was on it might cause a problem if it tried to use data or something.  If you look at my post from last year a rep on these forums came back and said it wasn't a feature of this phone so as you can see now I am even more confused.  Mary

Ok when I go into the account on the my Verizon app or from a pc under HD voice I have the option to remove it from account so I assume this means it's on the account right?  Mary
