Why can I only swipe my commadns when the phone is on a flat surface?

the swipe funcions best when the phone is on a falt surface.  in vertical it works occassionaly

Some phones  have a screen calibration feature for the gyroscope sensor.  What phone do you have?

According to this, screen calibration is not supported on Turbo.

It might just be hardware related and this would be known for sure after a factory reset, but unless its just a huge issue, I wouldn't go that far.  Maybe try turning off screen rotation if possible.  Either that or just unlock the phone with a pattern or pin or hold the phone the same way, flat as possible each time.
