Why do I lose data service every time I go to a specific state?

I have had Verizon for 20 years and have traveled to about 10 states and always had data service no matter where I went EXCEPT for 1 state that I go to quite frequently. I always lose data service when I'm there! Why would I get data across the country but I don't get it in the state right next to me?

I'm not a Verizion specialist however i can state i travel all 48 states frequently. It is because your out of signal zone. Either the tower is to far for your phone signal to reach or there are no towers on the bandwith of the network. This happens to me often in states like Wyoming and Eastern Maryland as an example.

What is the zip code in the state where you have trouble? No carrier covers every square mile of the country. Even Verizon Wireless has dead spots.

I'm most definitely NOT a VZW employee. If a post answered your question, please mark it as the answer.

Falcon09_, I want to thank you, for your 20 years of loyalty. I am so glad we have been able to provide you with the premium service you deserve. I travel a lot myself and rely on my phone to work. I would be equally concerned if I was unable to have service, in a different state, especially the one right next to me. I am here to help and we will get to the bottom of this for you. Where are you having the data service issues (state, zip code, major cross street)? What do you show for signal in this area? How much of the state do you travel that has no service? -SantoC_VZW

I understand there are dead spots, but dead STATES!? The state I am referring to is Wisconsin, and no matter where I go in Wisconsin I have this problem. I live 10 minutes from the border and shortly after I cross the border, I lose data service. This continues for hundreds of miles across the whole state and the entire southern half the state (haven't been to the northern half).

The state I get no data in is Wisconsin, and it's the entire southern half from the middle on down (I have never been in the northern half to find out if it works there). I am in Minnesota right along the border and a few minutes after crossing the border, I lose data for the entire time I'm in the state all the way across the middle and the southern half too. I doesn't give me any bars, 3G or 1X, nothing, it just says "You are offline".

Not coastal, no...some parts are remote but not every part, for example once I lose data service, I pass through remote towns as well as large cities, it doesn't seem to matter.

There is a section of Wisconsin that Verizon Wireless doesn't own the 4G or 3G cellular frequencies so the customer is then roaming on a regional carrier. If the phone isn't set up to allow domestic roaming then it is likely to detect no cellular data connection in those areas. This dead spot is a carryover problem from the Verizon/Alltel merger from 2009-2011.

How big is that section? Because according to my experience, it would be the entire southern half. That is just crazy and isn't fair at all. Every time I go there I am completely cut off from the world and can't get directions to drive home.
