Why is Verizon charging more than retail price for phones?

I've been looking at the Pixel 4A and noticed that Verizon changes $30 more than everywhere else. What gives?

Buy it directly from Google, I did. Verizon isn't getting a phone purchase from me ever again.

I'm even considering purchasing the Pixel 4a from the Google store too for the price they are offering it at.
