I was planning to get this device, but as it seems I might as well not get it. It doesn't help me with my line of work.
If you are a developer it's probably best to get the HSPA+ version. I wish this was brought to me sooner, but at least I found out before the purchase.
Source: AOSP
snippet:
The only supported phone with the current release is the GSM/HSPA+ Galaxy Nexus, a.k.a. "maguro".GSM/HSPA+ Galaxy Nexus is currently the recommended device to use with the Android Open-Source Project.
I am disappointed with this. Can't unlock the bootloader for the LTE version without some hack to do it.

I think we've...ahem...they've...they've had enough (rumored) bad news about the GNex for one day.

Can you explain the significance of this revelation to the mere mortals around here that just want a really cool Nexus phone on Verizon?

I was planning to buy it outright and save my upgrade to buy this device. My boss is now thinking of switching to AT&T as they are willing to give us unlimited data plans per phone we have(38 lines not including mine). We build our own firmware for ourselves.
At first I saw GSM, and I was like that doesn't bother me... Then I realized... HSPA+ it works for, but not LTE. If they said GSM only then it wouldn't matter whether LTE or HSPA+ as they are both GSM, but they are talking specific by adding HSPA+.

I wouldn't read too much into that. I'm guessing that's because the GSM/HSPA+ version will be out prior to our LTE version so they just released the code that applies to that one which is expected to release overseas later this week. They'll probably push the LTE code once Verizon quits dragging their feet.

I thought that too, but you have to consider... why bother with the disclaimer? If the device isn't out or going to be released later than that, It's not like someone could do somethung with it until AFTER the release of the device.
Also the release has been delayed in Europe until december.

Think that was just a rumor. Everything else is pointing to a release tomorrow or Friday with come shipments not scheduled til next week. The UK is already gearing up for the Nexus launch.

That's Amazon. It's not required that they have stock of the device when it launches. The carriers are still prepping for a launch in the next couple days or early next week for a few due to delayed shipping.
