I have a Droid Maxx II with Android OS, v5.1.1 (Lollipop).
I wanted to use the "Advanced Calling" features to be able to make WiFi calls over the Verizon Network when cell service is poor. Aparently this is not available with Lollipop.
I see there is a planned upgrade to v6.0 (Marshmallow) in the near future. Does anyone know if the upgrade to Marshmellow will include WiFi calling ability, or is this a hardware issue?
Thanks

The_McSwains,
Thanks for the clarification. WiFi calling is currently available on some devices, but not all. Here is a link that will help you narrow things down: http://vz.to/1Tm7wiX.
At the same time, I want you to have reliable service at home. What zip code are you in? Please describe exactly what is happening.

Any phone can make Wi-Fi calls. Just download one of the many free apps. I use Talkatone on Kit-kat 4.4 & it works great.
Use the app until Verizon rolls it out. Why wait????

This is a great feature to have and it does depend on the software on the phone. The availability of the feature is not hardware related. Advanced calling allows you to make crystal clear calls over LTE with another phone that has the same capabilities. I would say be on the look out for more updates to come here: http://vz.to/1P9lNh0

No, that's not what I'm talking about. i am talking about the Verizon service that uses your WiFi connection to make WiFi calls on the Verizon Network using your assigned phone number instead of using the cell service. It's part of the Advanced Calling features on some phones, but apparently not on mine.

Yes, I know WHAT it is. I get very poor cell service in my home. (Rural area) The Advanced Calling features with WiFi calling uses the Verizon Network over an existing Internet connection when cell service is not available.
My question is will this feature be added to MY phone when the OS upgrades.

Correct, & even if Verizon offers it on your phone, it is still in Beta & not yet ready for prime time from what I am reading in this forum.
I am merely suggesting an alternative till Verizon gets it right.

If you currently get ANY signal now, Verizon's Wi-Fi won't kick in anyway. There is no way to force it. It will only work if you ZERO cellular signal.
Unfortunately still needs some work. . . . . .

Perfect.
I have to go outside and stand on top of the picnic table to get one bar. Sometimes I have to raise one leg and tilt my head to the left to get that.
