WiFi connectivity issues

I’m having issues with my smartphone. I have a Motorola Moto X with an Android OS (version 5.1). An exclamation point keeps appearing next to the WiFi icon and the phone bars. It is very difficult to log into the Internet and when I can get on many of the sites either don’t download or download very slowly.  The WiFi also shuts off by itself. I either have to switch the WiFi off then on or shut the phone down completely to get WiFi back.

Karen has the identical phone and doesn’t have these issues. I also have a tablet that uses Android and works fine.

Any ideas or hacks to resolve this issue?
