activating a new phone on existing line

i just bought a n orbic wonder phone and want to use it in place of the phone i currently have. but not sure how to do it. i was able to find the phone through the my verizon app, check its availability and added it to cart but it looks like it wants me to pay an extra 20 a month for this? im probably doing it wrong. can anyone please help?
