Slightly more information would be very helpful.  The phone you have and the notifications you are getting.

Galaxy S4 constant notificationtone going off repeatedly (every 5 minutes), yet no new notifications, texts, emails, etc. Tried restart, removed battery, stoped apps, etc.

rmurray,

Lets take a deep dive into these false notifications! Have you downloaded any new applications recently, right before the notifications began? Are there any notifications at all in your notification tab when the notification sounds?

A synced application such as gmail. In the setting of mobile gmail there is a selection for it to notify by sound rather than on notification screen. It was driving me crazy. It was also doing it on google plus failed syncs. So might unsync them for a short time and if notification sound goes away then one the the synced is doing it. then turn one back on at a time until you start getting annoying problem again then you know it is that app and need to dig through the app itself and change they way it notifies
