how to get pictures off LG G2 with completely smashed screen

I have an LG G2 with a screen so smashed it has about 1% function, and is totally unusable.  All I can tell is that the phone is trying to display the screen, it lights up a little on the bottom half of the screen with a random pattern.  The phone still works, how do I get the pictures off of it?

Hardware Key Control Mode

If your phone display is damaged or broken, you can answer an incoming call, end a call, or turn off an alarm using the hardware keys.

Turn your phone off.

Press and hold the Power/Lock Button power key and the Volume Keys volume keys at the same time for more than 6 seconds to enter the Hardware key control mode.

Press the Volume Keys volume keys to scroll to the desired option, then press the Power/Lock Button power key to confirm.

Answer a call: Press the Volume Up Key and the Volume Down Key at the same time.

Stop alarm: When an alarm rings, press and hold the Volume Up Key or Volume Down Key to stop the alarm.

Hi Dream, so sorry to hear about your phone. I know I have been there myself.

The good news is it sounds like your phone is booting up, that's part of the battle. The next step we would suggest would be to connect your phone to your computer by USB.  Look to see if your computer is able to recognize the phone.

If the computer is able to recognize your phone you should be able to manually transfer the pictures via drag and drop. I'm including a link to help make sure all the possible steps are covered.

Well, seeing the lack of VS980 support, I am a part of a G2 community on G+ and what I brought there I bring here.  There are a lot of support forums for the G2 in general, but the Verizon variant had little support.  Trial, error, and varied ways of wording search queries.
