How do you port your phone number from another carrier? Video instructions seem out of date and do not match pages that they tell you to go to.

Contact the company/carrier you wish to do business with and let them handle it. You will need to provide them with the phone number you want to port to them and the password/pin for your account with current carrier. This is information they (new carrier) will need to work with your existing carrier to move your number to the new carrier.
Word of warning - if you notify your existing carrier they may cancel your service, and then you will not be able to port out your number

My experience with this has always been to call the Carrier you want to take the number from. Have them unlock the number for release and then just go to the new carrier and have them initiate the transfer. Last I did it from the time they initiated the transfer It took 2 hours for my phone to function.

You simply go to that carrier and ask to sign up with them. That cancels your Verizon account and tacks on any usage and ETFs due on next bill. If you are out of contract, you simply do the same without the ETF.
