Generally not. It might depend on which phone you have?

I'm most definitely NOT a VZW employee. If a post answered your question, please mark it as the answer.

Interesting, I would answer the opposite way, generally yes!

I currently have 64GB SD card in my Droid 4, official max 32GB.  It also works in my Samsung Renown (official max either 16 or 8, can't remember) and a 32GB card works in the HTC  Incredible II (max 16) haven't tried the 64GB

I've only had one failure, an old GSM Moto RIZR (not Verizon), had a max of 2GB and an 8 GB card didn't work in it.  So I would suggest you give it a try!

Edit: 64GB cards have a different format, but formatting them first on a computer works fine.  Might not always work trying to format first in the phone.
