poor signal after kitkat update
NorthCentralFL

Just switched to Android from Apple. Bought the note 3 and has been the best phone I ever owned until the OTA 4.4.3 Kitkat update. I now have the worst service and worse battery life I have ever experienced in all my life. I am not a phone smasher and haven't broken any of my smartphones since before my droid Eris years ago. However, my service has been so bad lately when i needed a signal on the road numerous times over the last month, i smashed my note 3 over the steering wheel and then got out in traffic and stomped it into the ground (Paid 300 dollars to get it fixed and it was worth every penny!!!). I already cleared the phones cash after updating did a factory reset and cleared the cash again. I remove the battery and sim daily in hopes of a fix. I previously for years now had exceptional service in all the areas I frequent (4+ bars at all times) My iPhone never dropped a call or lost service. Verizon, Please demand a fix from Google. This is an issue with the latest 4.4.2 update. You are about to if not already losing customers over this. At least let out of my plan if you cant do anything about it. I could get a better phone on strait talk for 1/3 the price i pay you guys a month.

NorthCentralFL,

Oh my, I am sorry to hear you are having service issues with your phone since the Kit Kat update. We want you to enjoy your service and phone so let's get to the bottom of this. What's your zip code? Have we opened a resolution ticket since you started experiencing issues? Have we swapped out your SIM Card since the update? Do you have service issues everywhere or just certain locations? Please provide additional details to further assist.

I have also been having very poor signal strength on my Samsung Galaxy S4 since the last update. I live in a basement and had great 4G service, but after the update I have 1-3 bars of 3G and can't even get texts to go out sometimes. It's very frustrating and I would like to have it fixed. What do I do from here? This is my only issue, other than that I love being with Verizon.

Thanks ahead of time,

Joshua

The 4.4.2 KitKat update has been dreadful when it comes to service reliability. That said, this is an issue that would need to be addressed with Google, not Verizon Wireless.

Add my Note 3 to the ever growing list of disgruntled customers.  I went to the local office since the phone support people are having an upgrade and cant help.  The local guy swapped sim card for me and it changed nothing.  I went from no problems on the best phone ever I have had to 0-2 bars in areas I used to have 5 bars.  I get at least three calls a day to voice mail that never rang on my phone in areas with 4 bars.  I never get 5 bars even under a verizon tower overlooking my home, 2 blocks away.  I am sick of the lousy customer service I get from VZW anymore.  They are a shadow of the customer service they used to have.  Their service is more like the original GTE they derived from.

I have the edge contract and I can buy my contract out in October and I have already decided to go with Sprint who will be happy to take even 2/3 of the $280 I now spend with VZW every month.  No contracts, true unlimited data and phones that work with customer service that actually helps the customer, all for $100 less than I pay now.  It is nice to know that my 15 years of loyal service because of the coverage is not a concern with VZW.  At least I know where I stand.

I bought this beautiful phone, thinking I had what I always wanted about 3 years ago. Upgraded to the Note 2 and have since gone to the Note 3.  Bad move after this latest update.  Little to no signal all the time, emails won't send, texts don't send half the time, no bars. My husband has a 2-yr old S3 and he gets signal everywhere.  Not me.... Very frustrated with this phone.  Looking for alternatives.  Very disappointed.

Nobody pays 700+ dollars for a phone and triple the cost of prepaid service every month to fix their own service issues. (Removed)

Profanity removed as required by the Verizon Wireless Terms of Service

Could you please have a rep in MY area offer to swap whatever needs swapping to make this phone work? Just plain crappy is all I can say about the service coverage. I can't even FIND a Verizon owned store around here. All the cheap resellers want to charge $15 for a SIM card.  To bill me, to maybe improve my service, they want to CHARGE me for a sim card to FIX this mess of a phone......

I mentioned in another thread, if I were you I would be contacting Samsung. I think you've discovered the update rendered your phone unable to communicate reliably with the VZW network. Samsung needs to be working with VZW and Google to get a patched version out to consumers.

We don't want to see you so frustrated with your phone that you're looking for alternatives, buffalochick1. I'm sure we can get your phone back to wonderful again. Did the signal trouble start with the last phone update immediately? Try to turn off your phone and remove the SIM for a few seconds to reboot and refresh it's connection if you haven't already. If that doesn't help, try to place your phone into Safe Mode http://vz.to/T21FWW and see if the signal improves while in Safe Mode.
