recover text from a broken phone

I have just re activated an old phone as the screen has broken on my newer phone. Is there a way I can get my text updated on my old phone or read text off broken phone on a desk topusing a usb cable.

I'm so sorry to hear your device was damaged. There isn't a way to transfer the text between devices. if the text messages were backed up on our cloud service you would be able to  get them restored on the older device.
