Actually not, lol. He has a Droid Eris and is [probably] distrought because he doesn't have the 2.0(and/or .1) update yet.

 

And to answer your question OP, no. You shouldn't 'give up' just because HTC hasn't released your update.

Verizon said 1st quarter of 2010.  That gives you a couple more months to wait.  Be patient.

Not sure how reliable this is, but... HTC to receive Android 2.1 upgrade in March

So it looks like it really will be another couple months to wait.  Oh well, there are actually a lot of 2.1 features that already exist in the Sense UI, which is nice.

That is for the Hero which if I'm not mistaken is Sprint,  although the Eris and Hero are essentially the same phone. That being said, Verizon has said Q1 of 2010 and March (even though it sucks waiting much longer) is in Q1...
