spoof calls

I am getting 5-7 calls from spoofed numbers, mostly claiming to be from spectrum wireless or AT&T wireless.  Why can't Verizon block these calls?  It is getting to the point where I am ready to leave Verizon all together.  They have always been the most expensive but you used to get quality service and great customer support when you needed it.  Now you just get the high prices.
