Tried to use conference with 2 other lines following the directions in the guide.
Initially the 3 way conference worked fine then the second line, the line I called to set up the merge call sequence, went partially dead in that the second phone could not hear the other 2 people but could still be heard. This occurred no matter which line was the second line called. Does anyone know of this problem and what the solution might be.

Thank you all for your responses. Please follow the following steps for conference calling:
1. Dial the 10 digit number of the second person while on the first call.
2. Press SEND. This will automatically put the fist person on hold.
3. Once the second person answers press SEND to create the conference call.
4. Press SEND twice if the second person does not answer and you need to go back to the first call.
5. When you need to end both conversations press END.
Let me know if you are still having issues with conference calling.

I was not able to find any other customers who are having this issue. I have provided some instructions conference calling on the IPhone below: The instructions can be found on page 64 of your User Guide.
Conference Calls
On GSM models, you can set up a conference call to talk with up to five people at a time, depending on your carrier.
Note: Conference calling may be an optional service in some countries or regions. Contact your carrier for information.
Create a conference call:
1 Make a call.
2 Tap Add Call and make another call. The first call is put on hold.
3 Tap Merge Calls. The calls are merged on one line and everyone can hear each other.
4 Repeat steps two and three to add additional calls.
Drop one call | Tap Conference and tap next to a call. Then tap End Call. |
Talk privately with a call | Tap Conference, then tap Private next to a call. Tap Merge Calls to resume the conference call. |
Add an incoming call | Tap Hold Call + Answer, then tap Merge Calls. |
If your service includes conference calling, iPhone always has a second line available in addition to the conference call.
Note: You can’t make a FaceTime video call when you’re on a conference call.
