Ever since I upgraded to version 16 I can only get SOS only service. I’m not happy paying for service I’m not getting.

No it didn't help. I'm paying for service I'm not getting. I had to download an app in order to communicate with family while at work. I work just 1/4 mile from I-95 with lots of shopping all around. I'm about to switch carriers.

The Verizon representative told me to factory reset ! Don’t listen, not only is SOS still at the top , the phone no longer supports my SIM card !

Same here been on the phone all day, thinking I did something wrong, getting same scripted responses, transferred to different reps, and different chats. 7 plus hours. An entire day wasted. If someone had been honest up front I could’ve go about my day and not wasted it on the phone being aggravated. They say it will resolve in 24 hours. Does anyone believe this or had any real luck?

Verizon I have the same problem ever since upgrade from iPhone 8 to 13. Except now my whole family is disconnected from cellular and says SOS.

Well, I guess it's nice to know that it isn't just me.
How has this been going of for 5 months? It's not like SMS for iPhones on Verizon is a niche use case ...
I've been with Verizon for 20+ years and have only recently started thinking of leaving for AT&T.

My solution was to change to the following settings:
Cellular Data Options:
-Voice and Data = LTE
-Data Mode - Standard
I think Verizons service in low signal areas conflicts with default iPhone settings wanting to use 5G and "allow more data on 5G"......
