I belong to a group and when the leader sends out a text it comes to me with a number other than his own number. None of the group members are listed on it and I can’t reply back to the group. The number shows up as 588-{edited for privacy}. If I call it it goes to Verizon and the call cannot be completed. It seems this issue has been around since 2017 with no resolution that I can see from others who have this issue. Tech support has been no help either and they don’t return promised call when they say they will. What is up with Verizon? It looks like it effects both Android and Apple.

You mentioned no other member of the group is listed in the message. Does this come through as a separate message other than the group chat with the other users?
