I recently upgraded to an iphone5.
Prior to that I had the 4S.
I followed the instructions that were sent with the new phone. Backed up old phone using icloud. Then I restored contacts and apps to my new phone using icloud.
Then, I went into the old phone and started removing contacts before giving it to my wife.
Unfortunately, when I deleted the contacts on the old phone, it deleted the contacts on my new phone.
I suspect that since both were using icloud on the same account, it was syncing anything that was done on either phone?
So how do I safely remove information from the old phone without deleting it from the new phone?
I want to keep the apps on the old phone.
There is an option to "delete account" in settings, but I want to make sure I don't delete anything on the new phone.
Thanks for the help!

Hi Flechmo
I would be happy to help with getting those contacts off the 4s. On The 4s please go to Settings>iCloud then uncheck contacts and you will be able to safely remove the contacts.
I hope this helps. Please reach out to us if you need any assistance.
Thank you
