iOS 10/iPhone 7+ constantly dropping service..

ButchV

just completed 200-mile trip, all interstate with 95% LTE coverage.  iPhone 7+ would drop service every few minutes/miles (switching between towers maybe?).  Other devices on iOS 9. (6s, 6+) as well as MiFi were able to maintain continuous service.   Comparing coverage when service would drop showed iOS 9 maintained 3 bars, so not spotty coverage area.  Is there any way VZW could troubleshoot what happened and how to fix?  Has to be an iOS 10 or iPhone 7 issue...

Update to 10.0.3 Apple released an update to fix the connectivity issue. I hope that will help your new iPhone 7

I just looked on my phone (iPhone 6s) and no updates.  What about us people with dropping calls etc on iPhone 6s?

Boy, it would be nice but there's not an update available.  My office is a Mac shop with about 300 employee's serviced at our office.  We now have nearly that amount having problems with everything from LTE (both Voice and Data) along with their mail client not updating at all and GPS drops.

So this does appear to be an iOS 10 issue with all iPhones.  Not just the 7.  Also, many are on 10.0.1 and when checking for a "software update".  None seem to be available.  I've had to enroll a number of users in the Beta program so they can guinea pig future releases.

Personally, I took my 7 back out of sheer frustration.  My 6s works fine (for the most part) on Beta 10.1 but many don't know how to enroll in the beta program.

I'm just having poor signal even in areas where signal should be strong. Mostly on 2 bars very seldom do I get 3 bars even at work where signal should be 4 to 5.

Having this same problem with my phone randomly going into "No Service" mode, have been back and forth with Verizon, with them having me do all of this troubleshooting, which none of it worked, so I found this thread and read DIAPAV59's post to set your LTE to Data Only, and that worked! But obviously it shouldnt have to be like that and something else needs to be done, as it sounds like its an issue for a few people anyways.I even pointed Verizon to this thread and they are still wanting me to troubleshoot. So frustrating!!

Okay, it's a week later and still the same issues.  Since there are too many zip codes to list, here are the affected travel areas:

-  Fairfax County parkway -  Fairfax Station to Dulles Toll Road

-  Dulles Toll Road - Reston to Tysons Corner

- I66 - Chantilly to I81 interchange in Winchester

- I81 -  Winchester to Christiansburg

As others have stated, switching to data-only for LTE isn't a solution.  None of this affects the iPhone 6 or 6+ which are still on 9.3.x, also VZW,  nor does it affect our MiFi service.

Verizon'a lack of communication or even acknowledging this issue has me seriously considering other wireless options.

this whole situation is a nightmare

Called Verizon yesterday and finally got a ticket number and confirmation they are looking into it.  Called Apple today.  Rep had not heard of the issue, but got me to a senior person.

Does  anyone know if this modem has been used in any other phones?  I googled it and could not find any.

I meant any other phones using this modem other than the iPhone 7/7+.  I think it was announced in 2015.

I know how important having a working phone is for everyone experiencing the same issues, ButchV. Let's review this together. Please reset your network settings by going to settings>general>reset> and then select reset network settings. Once completed the phone will reset. Please update me on your progress.

Stop telling everyone to reset their network settings. That won't fix this issue.

The only verified work  around is to disable HD voice which also disables wifi calling.

verizon and apple need to acknowledge the problem, and release an update.

These phones aren't working, there are threads on just about every forum related to these phones.

Fix it.

I agree with CHREAT27, stop telling people to reset network settings.  This does not help.  Please spend your time escalating the issue.   Please confirm that there is a problem and that it is being worked on by Verizon and Apple.

Same issue with me in New York. Data signal keeps switching between LTE to 3G to 1x and often to nothing at all in areas where my iPhone 6 worked wonderfully. I have the latest version of apple software 10.2 and did not restore the iphone 7 from a back up

Having the same issues.... was traveling from Northern Virginia to Charlottesville last night with my new iPhone 7.... on I-95 much of the way.... phone kept switching from LTE to 3G to 1x to No Service.  My wife was with me and her iPhone SE had LTE all the way, just as I always do.  I travel this route a lot for my work. BIG PROBLEM, and we need a fix ASAP.

JIMCHA85, we know the importance of maintaining the 4G LTE connection where you need it. Let’s make sure we can get to the root cause of the problem. Besides this drive you made, does your phone fluctuate signals in other areas? If it does, can you verify the zip code and if it happens to your wife’s iPhone SE also or just yours.

i'm having the same exact issue here in NY, i have an iphone 7 and my wife has a iphone 6 running ios9, i also have an ipad running ios 9,  first day i got it i was traveling around in NY and NJ and kept losing service completely while driving, then i realized that even when i do have service half of the time it was on 3G, i reset network settings and changed sim but to no avail, i called in yesterday and spoke to tier 2 tech support and she advised me that i will need to do a restore with itunes and reload software and that will fix the issue she says some files were missing from the software, she also had me a run a diagnostic report on the device, was busy with this for 3-4 hours late night and now i leave my house headed to work and i see myself with 3G again and checked my ipad at the same time and it has full bars LTE

we are having same problem with both phones iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 plus. after 15 min drive one phone goes "no service" but iPhone 7 remain full bars and after 30 mins drive iPhone 7 goes "no service" with with navigation can't detect GPS so we use iPhone 7plus to to continue driving while we were restarting iPhone 7.

crazy. No fix from Verizon or apple. Obviously something wrong with a device or software.

Im testing right now to use the phone without Voice LTE only Data LTE will see.

FWIW I am chiming in here with a similar issue:

Had an iPhone 6s running iOS 10.0.1 with solid LTE connectivity at home and work. Since upgrading the hardware to an iPhone 7, I see degraded LTE (2 bars where there were previously 4 or 5), or worse, 3G service only in locations where I previously had stable LTE service.

Toggling Airplane mode seems to resolve the issue temporarily.

Location is NYC: Brooklyn and Manhattan.
