iPhone 6S Pre-Order
Verizonfanatic

Hi so I plan on upgrading to the iPhone 6S when it comes out as my 4S is giving me issues. My question is, if I pre-order the device through Verizon or Apple, when would I expect to get the device. Would it be, before the official launch or after. I had a friend of mine pre-order the 6 when it came out and she did not get the phone until October. If I have to wait that long then I might as well wait in line at the store.

No one can answer this for you because we can't predict the demand. Demand was through the roof for the 6 release. You have to remember it was the first big-sized iPhone release...not to mention, a significant change in the iPhone look overall. If demand is high in this release then it's possible delays will occur. I preordered the 6 when it happened and received mine on the day of the official release. Others were not as lucky. I ordered from Verizon. Previous times during preorders I have received my device a day or two before it was available in store. Ordered from Apple before and Verizon.

Point being...you won't know until you know. Try to get your preorder in as soon as it opens up and hope for the best. And even though I know people won't listen to this (because they never do) don't stalk your order status. It will frustrate you. Because even if they ship from the warehouse early the delivery won't take place until Apple authorizes it. So it very well may ship quick and then sit at FedEx hub for several days before you see more movement. It happens every time. It will happen again.

My preorder has always arrived on launch day.

Like I mentioned, the only preorder for the iPhone that I received on launch day was the iPhone 6 I initially had. All of my other ones usually arrived a day or so before official launch. I've been lucky like that I suppose lol. Will be sitting this preorder out for now...I'm in no hurry to upgrade. Haven't even had my 6 plus for a year yet so I'll see how I feel about iOS 9 on it. Besides, the only thing that I'm missing a little is the finally better front facing camera lol.

I Pre ordered online immediat when I was able. Delivery date just changed to Oct 12.  Had I known that my effort would be punished, I would have ordered elsewhere

It's not a punishment. It's the popularity of the device. You could opt to cancel the order and try your luck in the stores (although with the date being less than 10 days away I would just wait). This wasn't a personal vendetta against you by Verizon in pushing back your date. It happens and it shouldn't be a surprise when it happens to a lot of people during every preorder of a highly popular device release. It's why sometimes you have to decide if it is better for you to stand in line on launch day and hope they have what you want in stock or if preordering is best for you.

SO are you seeing a date change?   I am starting to get a bit mad.  Every time I talk to a rep I get a different story.   I original ordered on 9/25 and now have two orders listed under my device but nothing showing on my orders under support.   Thanks.   I see the following.

We are working hard to complete your order. Unfortunately, it will not be shipped as originally scheduled. You will receive a shipment confirmation email when your order ships, which will include a new delivery date.

I ordered on 9/25 and got a ship date of 10/12. But it sucks because other stores in my area  have them available this weekend. I just saw some at Best Buy and Target has some too. Ugh.

If it hasn't shipped yet and you know the one you want is in store you could cancel your order and purchase in store.

Yeah but from reading here, I can't do the new iPhone every year if I buy it from Best Buy. And I also have a gift card for trading in my old iPhone that I can only use at Verizon. I got a lot more for my trade in because I did the payment plan. So it seems too complicated to cancel at this point. As much as I love having my stuff right away, I am stuck waiting. But don't think I didn't consider it. Lol

I called Verizon thats not true i was told that the device payment was better because you can upgrade to any phone rather then just Apple when purchase elsewhere. I was in the same boat because I purchase my phone from Best Buy also. They just changed the name and its still the same program as the Edge program.

Lots of confusion here.

If you want the option to get the new iPhone every year without needing to pay off the full amount of your current iPhone, trade that phone in for free, and then get the new one - that will only work if you bought your phone directly through Verizon and no one else.

It is true that if you are on a device payment plan from any place that sells Verizon phones, you can pay that phone off and upgrade to any other phone.

The big difference is paying off the rest of the phone before being allowed to upgrade (bought your iPhone anywhere else besides Verizon on device payment plan) or just having the option of giving your current iPhone back and being able to get a new one in a year (only if you bought directly from Verizon).

So sw15 is correct, and BrownSugar67 is confusing the traditional device payment plan and ability to pay off and get any phone once you pay off the remaining balance, and Verizon's new iPhone every year program.

If you bought your phone somewhere else besides Verizon you can upgrade your phone every year as long as you have paid 50% of that device and you have to turn it in, in good working conditions no crack screens etc (upgrade to any device). If your in the iPhone upgrade program meaning you purchase your phone from Verizon you can only upgrade to the latest iPhone Only. You must have paid 50% of the device and returned it in good working conditions no crack screens and etc.

That is no longer true. When the Edge/Device Payment program first started, that was the case. It then increased to 60% and then 70%. Finally they did away with it entirely, and you must now fully pay off the device, 100%, before you can upgrade. Sorry your facts are out of date.

I was told this by different three representative that they where one in the same program they just changed the name. if its not true then Verizon needs to train their employees correctly when given out informations to customers.

As of June 1, 2015, all new phones bought with device payment plan (formerly Edge) must be fully paid off at 100%. The 50% rule went away June 1, 2014 to 60%. Then it went up to 75% before the end of 2014. Now it is gone.

I don't think the delay is due to high demand.. I was at a Verizon store on launch day for 6 hours waiting and only 5 people showed up for the 6s plus and maybe 10 for the 6s. When I went to Verizon for the 6 launch there were a ton of people in line. So, I think it was production problems. Just my opinion tho.
