My son switched from one 4s to another, when he signed out of his apple ID on his old phone he was no longer able to receive or send text messages or calls.
Correct. He has to add the Apple ID on the new phone for it to function. It also needs a SIM card to use cellular data, or activate if you reset to factory.
WHat is it you want the old phone to do? If I missed the problem, please explain?
