Buy an iphone from current customer
meresandwillsmom

I have 4 Samung 4s on my plan.  My daughter wants to get an iphone for study group messages she is missing.  Her plan is not due an upgrade until 10/20/16.  A friend of mine has an iphone 6s 128gb phone that she no longer needs.  She has offered it to me for $400 and it is under contract until Dec 2016.  How does that work?  I am tech illiterate!!!  Help!

Your contract on your daughter's line that ends in October 2016 is for service; it really doesn't matter what phone is on the line, as long as the line of service is active.  Swapping phones will not change anything... and you can take the iPhone into a store and they can swap the phones.  A corporate store will be better as third party retailers or premium retailers may try to charge you for a SIM card that you need to activate the phone on your daughter's line

Also be aware that moving from an Android to an Apple, voicemail will be lost, as the system is different for an iPhone. Contacts should transfer if they are saved in Verizon's cloud.  If they are not backed up there, but in iTunes,.someone more familiar with Apple will (hopefully) be able to address the contact trransfer.

So, in sum, nothing happens to her plan, and yes, the iPhone simply replaces her current phone.

meresandwillsmom, that's a great resolution. You may activate that iPhone on your daughter's mobile number online at My Verizon. Please be advised that it cannot be simultaneously activated on your friends account at the same time. I hope that this explanation addresses your concerns.

Ok, how does that work?  I would take it to a store.  Don't like doing things like this online.  What happens to her "plan" that is out in Oct?  Would the iphone simply be a replacement for the one she has now?  Seriously, I just don't understand.

Hi SuzyQ, I recently changed from a Droid to an iPhone and there were several voice mails that had been saved, though they were of no great importance and actually had forgot they were saved. To my surprise they remained intact. If saved was what you were referring to? That may have changed.

OK. that's interesting.  I haven't used an iPhone, personally, but I have heard that voicemails didn't transfer when moving to or from an iPhone...  good to hear it did in your case.  Were you using the standard voicemail or the Visual Voicemail?

Yes it was standard voicemail. I had 4 voicemails that had been saved since Aug. while using a Droid Maxx. I got the iPhone in Jan. and after going to the first voicemail I received with the new iPhone they remained.

Something I find more interesting than that is they were also saved to the iPhone. Showing the caller, date received, and the duration of each of the messages, as in 56 seconds, and I'm able to play them on the iPhone. Even after deleting them from Verizon voicemail they remain on the iPhone and will play.

I really like how they saved to the iPhone, so when you call Verizon voicemail, you're not getting, you have one new voicemail and 4 saved voicemails.

I've since saved a voicemail to see if it would save to the iPhone as well and it has not. So I'm not sure how that happened with those 4 getting saved to the iPhone. I'd like to figure it out a nice feature if I can. Any ideas?

Something just stood out to me in this post? I have a iPhone 6s Plus 128GB, that iPhone was released at the end of Sept. by Verizon so 3 months old. I paid $849 so $400 is a good deal. But what stood out is, was the iPhone paid for in full or was it taken by the owner with monthly payments? If someone still owes Verizon monthly payments for that iPhone and sells it, can that iPhone still be used by someone else? That should be clarified, I think unlikely?

Salisbury,

I want to ensrue we are on the same page regarding your voicemail concerns. Are you able to save new messages? If not, do you get an error message?

Hi Karen, nope we're not on the same page Smiley Happy having no problem with Verizon voicemail. Was just trying to figure out about saving voicemails directly to the iPhone ( not at Verizon by calling voicemail)  and when I went back and looked it is saving messages or storing voicemails on the iPhone, that is a really nice feature.
