I had Apple on the phone, connected my phone to iTunes and reset back to the factory settings and still cannot get a group message. I can initiate one but not receive one initiated, only get another group member's reply to the message. I got my 5S from a friend and they never had trouble with group messaging. Stumped!

Hello!, thank you for bringing this to our attention and we certainly want to get your group messaging back to normal. This is very strange and let's work together on getting this resolved. Is regular text messaging working properly? Have you spoken to Apple about this issue you are experiencing?

I first call Verizon about the issue. I had to use a friend's landline to
have them troubleshoot the phone. They reset it or something, I cannot
remember but they thought they had reestablished to working order. But
still unable to receive a group message.
I called Apple and spent 2 hours on the phone with them and we actually
reset the phone to the factory settings. My entire group at school, 8
others received a group message from our instructor, I could not.
I don't understand! The only option I have left at this point is to take it
into Apple and see if they can do something.
(the friend I received the phone from, because their company approved an
upgrade to the '6', said they never had trouble with group messaging)

hello!,
We appreciate the additional details. We are not giving up yet. Group messages actually run over a data connection, similar to picture messages. Are you receiving pictures ok? Do you see a difference if your phone is connected to WiFi or cell data?

still having trouble, I found apple toolbox and was told there to change
the DNS number to google's public network, 8.8.8.8, why I don't know but
this is what I was directed to do for my iphone?! So I did it and will wait
for the next group message. It seems that I have the trouble with the
person who initiates the message. They are coming from iphones so it is
quite perplexing!!
