I'm a new Verizon customer and am having problems with my iPhone6. Text messages are failing to send and when they do send they are always SMS instead of iMessages. Even though the people I am sending to have iPhones. Sup?

So I'm a new Verizon customer - so happy to be off the AT&T grid, but I'm having issues with sending text messages. They often "fail" to send and when they do send, they are always SMS messages as opposed to imessgaes, even though I am sending to other iPhones. Anyone know whats up with that?

Several things may be causing that... First off, and this may seem a bit too obvious, but you must make sure iMessage is turned on in your message settings. Also, must make sure either cellular data or wifi is turned on and that you have an active internet connection. Also, the recieving iphone must be sure that they have imessage turned on as well, and an active internet connection on their side as well, and that they are set to recieve iMessages at that number, and not just at their apple id.

It could be an issue with iMessage...but I've noticed that even though some of my friends have an iPhone...they've opted out of using iMessage.  If the user you're sending to (even though they have an iPhone) has chosen to disable iMessage, then it'll continue to send any text as SMS.

I just encountered same problem....went into settings, cellular, roaming voice and data, and turned Internationsl CDMA "On" ....fixed the problem.....not sure why though.  lol
