You can as soon as you pay it off to the required percentage.

Hey if what you're asking is "Can I use my current Edge phone to use as a trade in by selling back to Verizon for a discount on the 6S? If so, only if you are no longer making payments on your phone. If you are still making payments on the phone then no, and depending on how much is paid off you will be able to trade up for the iphone 6s, but they won't give you any trade in value.

You can still be making payments on the phone, but as long as the balance percentage is in range, the phone can then be traded in.

The trade-in credit received is equal to the balance left on the previous phone. (subject to condition of device)
