My iPhone 5 "Safari could not open the page (you tube) because the server stopped responding. I have disabled wifi and there is still no connection, no incoming mail, etc. I am typing this using my laptop and wifi is fine.

Try a reset of the device. If that does not work, go under settings > general > reset and reset network settings.
