I do apologize for what you are going through and want to make sure we get this resolved. Have we tried turning off Wi-Fi Networking? You can do this by going into Settings>Location Services> System Settings( all the way down at the bottom > and turn off Wi-Fi Networking). Please try turning this feature off and try to connect once again.

Hi JorgeO,
Thank you so much for responding! This issue began about a month ago, although only because that was the first time I made this attempt. I purchased a new iphone (5S), and subsequently left my iphone4 unused for several months. I decided I wanted to use it as an ipod touch to listen to podcasts, so I charged it up and turned it on. It wouldn't recognize my home network, and after updating the iOS, it still wouldn't. After speaking with an Apple rep, I went to a public wifi space to see if phone was capable at all, and it was indeed able to connect to that space's wifi. So I've never been able to connect it to my home wifi. I have several other devices that are currently connected to my home wifi. I've spoken with Apple, my internet provider (RCN), and Verizon. Not sure what else to do.... any suggestions would be very very welcome! I would like to be able to continue using this device which is still in good condition. Thanks!

What about other wifi networks? Will your phone connect with those? Is it only your home router that is giving this one phone issues?
If so, I would suggest updating your router's firmware. Usually pretty easy, just google it.

Thanks, JorgeO, but I have already tried this step multiple times.

Nicholas, the phone works great on any other wifi network, just not mine at home. I will try updating the firmware. Thanks for the suggestion!

I finally got it to work! Updated the firmware and reset the router. Started right up after that! Thanks, everyone!
