mochick1, let's get your service restored stat. What is the affected zip code you are in? Does service on your phone work in other areas? Does it change indoors vs outdoors? Share details. Thanks!

This is not the experience that we want you to have, mochick1. Do you normally have these issues indoors or outdoors? Are there others in the area experiencing the same issues?

It sounds like you are not activated on our network, mochick1. Please turn off WiFi and re seat your Sim card. Leave WiFi off until your device is activated. You can also activate your phone via iTunes. If you are still having issues, please contact us privately at http://vz.to/1ExQF3c

The last time I was experiencing the issue of such my phone had to be replaced. Nothing Apple did (including a new SIM card) fixed the issue.
