To everyone who read this, go read the article on Computerworld about how Att and VZW wants to carry Windows 8 phone and be successful. The reason is that Apple charges the carriers so much money for the Iphone plus monthly royalties per customer who uses the Iphone. Also Apple dictates where the phones are located on the stores and how the commercial are done. So Apple are getting all this money from carriers. The carriers are not making any money on the Iphone. If you want to know how much money the carriers are paying Apple, multiply how many Iphone each carrier activates and multiply that an average of $600. Billions, Billions, Billions per carrier ( Att, Verizon, and Sprint) Don't blame carriers that charges upgrade fees and blame Apple.
Nobody cares about the windows phone if enough people wanted to buy it they would carry it I have an iPhone because it's the most reliable smart phone on the market not because it was forced on me by anyone
Also all phone makers recoup their money by getting money from you every month. If Verizon and AT&T were losing money from apple products they wouldn't carry them.
For some reason the carriers are working with Apple to make sure the SIM NOT VALID problem can't be resolved. I've been a huge fan of both companies until my AppleCare iphone6 replacement would get locked once overseas but worked fine domesticaly.
Here is how you fix the problem SIM NOT VALID / ACTIVATION REQUIRED. Look up your phone's IMEI and enter it into one of the many free websites.
For your IMEI # on the iPhone it is: Settings-General-About
Just plug in the IMEI numbers into the website search and you find out what carrier your phone is locked to.
Then, call that carrier to confirm your phone/IMEI is locked to their network. Once that is documented, call the device maker (i.e. Apple) and ask why your device is locked. They may deny it and may tell you to contact your carrier. Many times the phone will be locked to a carrier other than the one you are currently using. (i.e. Tracfone)
You will then call your current cellular carrier and ask why you have a locked phone. If they say you don't have a locked phone, give them your IMEI. If all parties say they don't think you have a locked phone or don't know how to fix it, then you should fill out the short form at the FCC website.

The FCC requires that by law all parties listed in the complaint respond to you within 30 days and they DO!!!! Sometimes they sing a whole different tune!! otherwise there will be a FCC investigation and they don't want that. I suggest documenting everything just in case! This really works! Your phone will start to ring with high level executives from both companies who have the power to fix the problem.
