My iPhone died. I've been sent a refurbished phone as part of the warranty program. I'm trying to be activated it now. It would not restore it immediately ( as the instructions stated) because the software on the "new" refurbished phone was not up-to-date.  I'm updating the software on the new phone now but how do I proceed then to restore the phone fully?

We're glad you were able to get a replcement phone. Let's help you get it set up. How was your information backed up on the previous device? What happens after the activation steps are completed?

I moved the Sim card to the new device. I follow the instructions. My Mac was trying to restore it but said that the software was out of date and had to be updated as a new iphone before it could be restored ( apparently the refurbished phone that was sent to me did not have up-to-date software and that is causing the problem). Not clear about the steps since this was not   Not covered by the online instructions.   The data is backed up on iTunes.

Thanks for the additional information Laura! Having the latest available software is very important for your phone to work properly! I want to provide the best way to restore your data to your replacement phone. What is the phone model in question please?
