Ringtones for iPhone 6

I just got a iPhone 6s plus 128GB today and have spent over 2 hours trying to use a music ringtone. I have close to 1200 iTunes songs on my desktop computer which I synced onto the iPhone. Can anyone tell me how to get one of them to work as a ringtone. This was very simple to do on my Droid Maxx.

You have to convert the song file to get it to be recognized as a ringtone. I'll have to try and find one of the old tutorials to try and help explain it. Are you using a PC or MAC?

I've decided to return the iPhone which I'll do today. There are several things besides ringtones that are unacceptable. The girl at the Verizon corporate store had said you better take insurance this is a thousand dollar phone, which I did take the insurance. I'd have to be out of my mind to spend this kind of money for this phone with it's terrible operating system. There is a $35 dollar restocking fee, which I'll pay just to get rid of this piece of crap.

I wanted a Droid Turbo 2 but they claimed not to have it in 64GB, only 32GB, which my Droid Maxx already has, so it's back to the Maxx. Verizon ought to be paying me $35 for wasting hours of my time.

Salisbury, sorry to hear that the iPhone was not up to the standard that you wanted it to be. I do not know if yo have returned it yet. If you like we can do some troubleshooting on it. You mentioned that there were issues with the operating system. Please elaborate on what those problems were exactly along with any other concerns you have. We are here to help.

Hopefully you end up with something that makes you happy. I personally enjoy the iPhone but if it doesn't fit your expectations then it isn't meant to be. I'm curious if there is something wrong (it's not working correctly) or if you just haven't learned how to use it yet. If you're open to help before returning it there are plenty of people on here that could try to answer your questions or direct you to the right place to get info, but if you're adamant about not wanting it then hopeful you can find something you really want. Good luck!

Kaebfly, thanks for your kind offer of help but I did return the iPhone 6s plus today and re-activated my Droid Maxx.

The physical aspects of the iPhone were nice. I feel the Android OS to be far better than iOS 9.2 and the things Apple puts on the iPhone.

A few examples: Apple Watch icon cannot be removed entirely. Trying to use a RingTone from your iTunes library, to much unnecessary work could easily have been made simple as on the Droid. One post from Verizon here is a link to purchase ringtones...that's exactly what Apple wants you to do, purchase the same song twice, one for a ringtone.

Wallpaper couldn't change back after repeated tries. Widgets.. From Apples store, free ones you have to put up with an ad. Wifi does not show how many BPS you are connected at. Internet far to difficult to navigate compared to Droid.

iCloud email account shows you have created but when going to use no email functions to be found, sighed in over and over again.

The iPhone was very frustrating to work with I didn't have the patients for it, just ringtones alone yikes. I can purchase from the iTunes store and have music ringtones work with ease on a Droid Maxx and can't on a Apple iPhone and they own iTunes! It's quite unfortunate it's a nice looking phone and I was really looking forward to using it especially where I have a fairly large iTunes library. I may part ways with Verizon as well not under contract and decided to shop around.

I have never purchased a ringtone and despite how detailed it may look to create one from your own songs it honestly takes less than a minute to make using iTunes. Have never bothered with any of the apps to make one because it really is simple to do it in iTunes (something I was doing before I ever got an iPhone because I made them way back when I used Blackberries lol). The Internet...not sure why it was complicated to use. It really isn't but I guess it's an opinion thing. Yes it's true that you can't remove stock apps but if I'm not mistaken that's true with some Android devices too. I just put the ones I have no real use for in their own folder and don't think about them ever again. No clue what was going on with wallpapers for you. That isn't normal but since you returned it I guess it doesn't matter what the issue was...can't troubleshoot it now lol. Ultimately it sounds like you were just used to what you know and didn't want to change...which is absolutely fine. I think most people like what's familiar. I'm used to most people complaining that the iPhone is too simple and doesn't do enough complex things for them so it always surprises me when someone says it was too difficult or too much trouble. Maybe there is a similar device to your current one that you might like more.

It was disappointing to return the iPhone today. I had decided yesterday to get a phone with plenty of storage, high end, and was excited about it. I went to several websites and followed their steps in getting ringtones to work with iTunes and finally gave up.

I had read about putting Watch icon in a folder to get rid of it, but it had also said you'd have to do this every time you start the phone.

The iCloud email I could not get working or change back the Wallpaper, gave up on those as well. Wanted a Widget on the Home Screen can't be done have to swipe to get to it, and you have to look at and ad with it.

When turning on the iPhone this morning what comes up is the Apple Watch page. I found the operating system quite difficult perhaps because of being familiar with Android. In fact the guy that took back the phone told me that most of their returns are people that were going from Droid to Apple. I had written down a list of 8 things that were troublesome, he told me that all he's ever had was a iPhone, but offered no help, just took the phone back. This iPhone went for $960. This phone suppose to be easier to use? So I read.

Perhaps I should have been more patient and maybe worked with you and others here but didn't realize that, and figured I have to spend a great deal of time on the internet learning this phone but was already aggravated with it.

Don't know what I'll do about a smartphone now other than take my time.
