Unwanted texts

I keep getting texts with a code to verify my mobile number. I did not request anything needing to verify my number. I received 8 texts from 8 different numbers, all within the last 10 minutes! Please help!

I can imagine how annoying that must be! Do you know where the texts are coming from? Some apps like Facebook will send a verification code to access their site from a mobile device. Are you still getting these messages today?

No I haven't gotten any more since. I have no idea who they were from. Just had a number and said "Your code is: 7426 Enter this code to verify your mobile phone number. The code is valid for 24 hours." All 9 text messages said the same thing but have different codes.

You are fortunate.  I have been getting pornographic picture/video messages that cannot be blocked via the phone or the Verizon website.  I have gotten 62 + of them in the past month.  I went to the Verizon store and the service guy just deleted them and said there was nothing I could do and Verizon wasn't interested in doing anything about it.

Does anyone know how to block unwanted text messages?

My understanding is if you block that number it blocks all communications. Verizon will block 5 numbers for free for a certain period of time, but you have to pay to block a number indefinitely. I've been hearing of apps you can also use, though I don't have experience with them.

I'm not sure why Verizon didn't offer to block them for free indefinitely. I've heard of them doing that in times like now where you're getting unwanted phone calls and messages and from a number that has never been associated with your account before.
