Excellent question! What you pay monthly would be: Your plan cost, for example: New Verizon 12GB for $80.00. You line access fee for each line at $20.00. Plus your Device Payment amount, for example: $27.08. All together this would be $127.08 plus taxes and surcharges. This would be every month. The one-time charges that you would pay when starting up services would be your $30.00 Activation Fee and Sales Tax for the device.

As far as taxes with buying that may depend on what state you live in, some states do not have sales tax. If a particular state has a sales tax it could work as a one time charge at the time of purchase. There are some charges that will occur monthly with 911 calling, Federal tax, etc. that are minimal.
As far as fees there could possibly be a one time fee with Verizon for $20 with a phone upgrade.
