Which iOS devices are compatible with the My Verizon Data widget?

Here is a list of all the iOS 8 compatible devices:

iPhone 4s, iPhone 5, iPhone 5c, iPhone 5s, iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus

iPad 2, iPad 3, iPad 4, iPad Air, iPad Air 2

iPad mini, iPad mini 2, iPad mini 3

iPod touch (5th Generation)

I have an iPhone 4s, an iPad 2 and both give me the message "Sorry, the Data Meter is not available for your device."  Both have the latest version of iOS 8 installed and deleting and reinstalling the app doesn't help.  I have been searching these forums and the Internet for a list of compatible iOS devices to no avail.   I would like a definitive answer from a knowledgable Verizon employee once and for all.  Please do not respond with troubleshooting advice.  That is not what I'm looking for.
