I'm not getting messages through the message for people iMessage with through my iPhone. I can send a message but can't receive through the message. Is this something that can be fixed or will it just not work? Thank you
Cwalllacombe, I use Verizon Messages as well. I find it very handy when I leave my phone at home. With iMessages it does not come through Verizon Messages. The iMessages run over Apple’s networks and doesn’t filter through our system.

Hi Cwalllacombe, if you're using iMessages you can receive and send to both iPhone and Android. How to distinguish
if the message is originating from an iPhone the text bubble will be in "Blue" if from an Android the text bubble will be "Green".
If you're not able to receive a message it could be that someone has changed from an iPhone to an Android and may need to deregister iMessage.

The iMessage feature on iPhones only works with WiFi. So, if you are not connected to WiFi or have the iMessage feature on your iPhone set to off, you won't be able to receive it as an "iMessage."
You need to have both WiFi at home or where you plan to use iMessage, and have the iMessage feature on. Youcan turn on and off the iMessage feature through: Settings > Messages > iMessage.
You may be able to get some iMessages that your contacts send you as a simple text message if they (your contacts) have the "send as text message when iMessage is unavailable" feature on on their phones.
I hope that this will help you learn a little bit more about iMessages, which are different from regular text messages and unique to Apple products.

This is incorrect. iMessage WILL work over cellular data, you do not have to be connected to wifi. There is a setting where you can RESTRICT iMessage to wifi, but that restriction is not turned on by default. The default setting is to have iMessge use cellular data when not connected to wifi.
using message plus from verizon and sending a message it is inconsistent where message replies come back to. Some only come back to Imessage and some come back to verizon message plus. Most come to both which is ok but ones that only come to imessage is a pain.
