Will my Apple watch series 3 have its own phone number?

I noticed that after I ordered my Apple watch series 3 that i  was given a different phone number. Is this correct? Will someone have to call a different number to reach me when I'm wearing the smart watch and do not have my iPhone.

No. They have to give the SIM it's own number but your watch will share the same number as your phone on the surface.
