rxme, first off let me say welcome aboard. We're happy to have you on team VZW. This certainly isn't the experience we want you to have as we want your transition to be smooth and free of frustration. Perhaps I can shed some insight on this matter and why you're experiencing that issue with your messaging. When porting your number over from another carrier it can take up to 5 days for us to receive the routing tables from your previous carrier that allows your messages to be sent to other wireless providers. The mobile number must be released within a certain time frame however the other service provider (ourselves included in similar instances) have up to 5 days to transfer your routing tables for SMS/MMS messaging. You can send/receive texts from other VZW customers just fine because we own our routing tables. While it doesn't typically take the full 5 days and hardly ever surpasses that time frame in which to receive those tables, we cannot file a service ticket with the previous provider until those 5 days have passed.
How long has it been since you ported over your services? You will be okay with sending messages over data via iMessages in blue for both pictures and texts since those do not go over your mobile number.
