Given the situation you are in, you should look for a cheaper plan for the mifi when your contract is up.  Meanwhile, paying for overage is more expensive than increasing your data plan.

There are less expensive data providers.  The question is, do they provide service in your area?

Is Verizon the only cell service that reaches your home?

Have you downloaded applications to your iPhone? Try disabling data for applications in Settings>Cellular>Scroll down to applications>Disable data for applications. This will prevent applications from accessing your data allowance.

15 GBS a month is nothing for 2 cell phones and a hot spot serving a computer and tablet at home.
