It must be hard to get much done with that going on, PMcDyer. I'd like to help you figure out how to keep your 5s from doing that. Can you share some details? When it turns off, does it simply go dark or does it go through the same shut down process you'd see if you turned it off? When it does this, are you able to turn it back on without issue? Have you performed any resets of your device? If you have, can you share the steps you took?

connect the phone to iTunes and reset the phone and make sure the software is up to date
