set specific ringtone on iphone

Is it possible to set a specific ringtone for callers who are NOT in my Contacts?  This would help tremendously to weed out unwanted calls before I race to answer the phone.

I know I can set a specific ringtone for each contact, and I have already done that for family and close friends.  But doing it for every single contact would be very tedious.

Unfortunately, there isn't an option to set ringtones for those not in your contacts outside of setting the default ringtone. As you were thinking, the only way to get the behavior you're asking for would be to set specific ringtones for all of your contacts.

Not ready to give up...is it possible to EASILY create a Group of contacts, then assign a ringtone to it?

I know how important it is to have special ringtones for specific contacts, cranneberry. There really isn't a way to assign a ringtone for Groups or callers not in your contacts. As Elements mentioned, you can assign ringtones for all contacts, (default), or specific contacts only.

I am going to try this:

Use Do Not Disturb with the exception of my Favorites contacts.  Then I will check Recents once in a while to be sure I haven't received a call or text from someone I care about.
