we are concerned about all the applications that can be downloaded on a phone. Verizon offers a great application to help monitor this (app usage, automatically locking, etc.) but it is only available on android phones. This does nothing to help parents of children with I phones. why? Is there something out there like this for I phones?

Apple has parental controls, free, which can control the device and the child's access to iTunes.
to learn more about your options to protect your child, please go to Apple support forums and look into parental control options and the Family share plan.
I have 2 sons and find the options with Apple easy and very functional. I have used iCloud and "find my iPhone" to track my kids location. My sons don't even know I am doing this, but it provides momma with some peace of mind.

nevermind. I just read that apple will not allow any one to provide a monitoring service like this. That is really a shame apple. Think of all the good you could do and all the heartache you could save parents as well as any child that has a phone and may be a victim of bullying or unwanted attention. And I know.....just go get an android phone then. That is an option, but so is stepping up and doing the right thing.....

You can setup Family Sharing from your own iCloud account. I've never used it so I can't give precise details on it.
