I reset my network setting also and the 1 X issue still happens from time to time I also reset my network settings when I had a wi fi issue

I had the same issue (stuck on sloooooowww 1x coverage for 3 days) 

Called *228 and selected option 2 after finding advice in this thread.

Took less than 2 minutes and I'm back on 3G
