I dialed *67 + the 10 digit number. The call went through and the party answered, and asked is this Mr. Johnson?  I said yes it is. But I was surprised that they knew my name. How did he know?

Hey 4rest,

 

The *67 option is a temporary block used for a specific call. This does indeed block your number from being displayed, and we cannot speak to how the party was aware of who you were. The *67 option is a universal dialing code to do this, but calls to certain numbers including 800 numbers and 911 won't use this Caller ID blocking feature.
