when someone calls me, my sons phone (on the same plan) rings as well. What is going on?

Another option is to go into Settings-FaceTime-and then turn off "iPhone Cellular Calls". It won't affect actual phone calls to either device but it will turn off calls meant for one number (the one that created the Apple ID) from going to other devices using the same Apple ID. Hope that makes sense lol.
And apple thought this was a good feature. Not so much..... if you and your son share an Apple ID, when calls come in the ring on all devices with that id. Mac computers iPads... If you put your son on his own Apple ID, join the family sharing plan with apple, and then sign off your id on his phone.
