Buy an iPad with Wi-Fi + Cellular from Apple. Get $200 back from Verizon

From the Apple website
“Buy a Wi-Fi + Cellular iPad directly from Apple (pay in full or monthly with Apple Card Monthly Installments). Activate your new iPad on any consumer postpaid data plan. Then complete the promotional application at
www.vzw.com/myverizon within 30 days of activation.”

I activated new line yesterday and have looked for promo information at the link with no luck . The link they provide is really just the main accounts login page.  How do I get this promotion process started?

terryv941, we can certainly help check on this with you to see what is going on with the order. So we can begin, please send us a Private Note.

Private message sent about 24 hours ago with no response. This is a very disappointing process with no real information on this "promotion" anywhere - unlike the other two carriers on the Apple site that actually link you to a carrier promotional page - i guess it's just supposed to work. I'll need to look into a return and cancellation soon with no answers.

I do apologize, but we're not seeing a Private Note from you. When was that sent? Was this a promotion directly from Apple?

Yes it is on the main apple website when buying any iPad but the promotion varies for each of the 3 carriers and is paid by the carrier so it is a Verizon promotion and apple clearly says contact the carrier.

I sent a private message to vzw_customer_support on 5/5. Now I have tried a second time and get the following error "You have reached the limit for number of private messages that you can send for now. Please try again later."

I would like an answer to this as well.  It's the only reason I followed through on the purchase of the iPad Air 4th Gen.  The text on the Apple site is the following...

Buy an iPad with Wi-Fi + Cellular from Apple. Get $200 back from Verizon.**

Tell me about the deal.

For a limited time, buy an iPad with Wi-Fi + Cellular directly from Apple and get a $200 Verizon e-gift card after you activate your new iPad on an eligible Verizon data plan.

How do I get it?

Buy a Wi-Fi + Cellular iPad directly from Apple (pay in full or monthly with Apple Card Monthly Installments). Activate your new iPad on any consumer postpaid data plan. Then complete the promotional application at www.vzw.com/myverizon within 30 days of activation.

You’ll receive an email with next steps after you buy your iPad.

How will I receive the $200?

Once you've completed all steps and your eligibility has been processed, you’ll receive a $200 Verizon e-gift card within eight weeks.*

And here is the fine print... it says redeem via your Notifications on the My Verizon page... so far I don't see anything.

** Verizon Special Offer: Get a $200 Gift Card. Limited time offer through June 27, 2021. Activate your own Cellular iPad online at Verizon.com. Select any Verizon consumer postpaid data plan. How to Redeem: Submit promotional application through http://www.vzw.com/myverizon within 30 days of activation. Apple may provide certain information about your device and purchase to Verizon to facilitate and verify your eligibility for this Special Offer. Receive a $200 Verizon e-Gift Card when you activate an iPad purchased from Apple Retail or Apple.com on any Verizon consumer postpaid plan. Redeem via your Notifications on the My Verizon app or vzw.com/myverizon. Customer must submit for redemption within 30 days of activation, and device must remain activated for 45 consecutive days. May not be combined with other promotional offers. We reserve the right to charge the amount of the Verizon e-Gift Card to your Verizon Wireless account if service is canceled within 12 months or change your price plan from an eligible unlimited plan. Your Verizon e-Gift Card will be sent via email within 8 weeks after receipt of claim to the submitted email address. This gift card can be used to buy merchandise & services at stores/kiosks operated by Verizon or at verizon.com. Gift cards cannot be used at Verizon Authorized Retailer locations. Gift cards can be used to pay a Verizon Wireless or Fios bill by visiting Verizon.com or using the My Verizon app (wireless bills only) or My Fios app. Do not mail printed copy of digital gift card with your bill. For card balance call 1.800.876.4141 or dial #GIFT (#4438) from your wireless device. Gift cards are non-refundable and cannot be returned for a cash refund, except in those states as required by law. Use of gift card constitutes acceptance of all terms & conditions. Treat this card like cash, neither Verizon nor Apple is responsible for gift cards that have been lost, stolen, or damaged. Gift cards do not expire and are not subject to dormancy or other fees. Gift cards may not be used for resale, advertising, marketing, sweepstakes or other promotional purposes without consent. Offer not available to Visible customers.

Thank you for those details. I'm sure we can get to the bottom of this once and for all. So I can take a closer look, I would have to access your account. I am sending you a Private Note, and we can continue.

I replied on to the PM request 5 days ago on the 13th simply with my first and last name as requested and have not heard anything further.

My first attempt to contact via PM was 2 weeks ago. The only thing I have received is send me your first and last name. Will someone actually be able to provide some real assistance via the private messages?

I had this EXACT same issue and posted yesterday - there is no place to sign up for the $200 rebate card anywhere!!

Seems like there is more than one of us in this position.  Verizon needs to do the right thing here since they clearly marketed this and impacted our decisions.

I’m having this exact issue today. I cannot get help from Verizon.  Apple is trying to help, but if anyone can provide the solution for me, I’d appreciate it. I’ve wasted my entire Sunday afternoon bouncing between Verizon and Apple on the phone.

We want you to have the support you need. In regard to this offer, customers who purchase an eligible unlocked iPad from Apple Retail or Apple.com during the promo period and activate it on Verizon Online on a new line of service can get a $200 Verizon eGift card. Once you have the device, follow the steps below:

  1. Visit vzw.com/digitalrebatecenter and enter the Promo Code UNLOCKEDIPAD200 and purchase date.
  2. Enter the appropriate information.
  3. Submit the offer redemption within 30 days of activation.

Just want to keep this thread going since it appears there are literally hundreds of people who are having this problem.

First, VZN support is simply non-functional. I have tried numerous times to call, chat, PM support and it is just a big run-around. Nobody knows about this promotion and nobody is empowered to do anything about an obviously broken program. VZN must just hope that 90% of their customers just give up in frsustration.

Second, when someone finally comes up with a solution to the problem, notably going to a specific website to apply for the rebate (the infamous digitalrebatecenter using code UNLOCKEDIPAD200), it turns out that VZN simply denies the rebate A MONTH LATER due to a variety of random reasons. Mine was "The device associated with this rebate is ineligible.". Hmm, that's funny, an iPad Mini WiFi+Cellular purchased from Apple seems to be exactly the target of this promo.

Last, after the denied rebate, more layers of run-around. Call this number (When they answer, they say they are not the right department), "the iPad Mini is not eligible for the promotion" (According to the Apple website, ALL iPad's WiFi+Cellular are eligible), or simply "send us a Private Note", to which nobody ever responds.

I now am treating this as Verizon has STOLEN $200 from me, and I'm not backing down. I urge everyone else reading this to add their story to the thread so maybe we can get VZN to honor their commitment.

I'm down for keeping the thread open, since it is probably the only way that this will stay alive. I'm going to do a BBB complaint as well, and I've submitted same with Apple.  This is a classic Bait-n-Switch, and they should be held accountable.

Thanks, *Melissa, but if you'll read through the numerous posts on this subject (not just in this thread), you'll see that others have tried to go through the PM route to end up in a loop and end up with what we are already complaining about.  I've gone through 3 PM loops and the sessions time out with no resolution, then the next person that comes on can't see the last set of messages, and it ends up timing out again.  It's extraordinarily frustrating.

The "PM Loop" that's one way to put it. They seem to want to take everything to a PM - even requests like how to get a rebate that should be publicly shared. The problem is you never get a PM to begin with or you get one asking for more info and then you never get a response from that. It seems to often be a process to simply hide the lack of support supposedly given here.

That has been my experience, exactly.  I'm sure "*Melissa" is a bot.

We're disappointed to learn this has been your experience with us thus far, Dewaltgirl. I want to ensure we get to the bottom of this for you. We'd like to look for the promotional offer. Just to confirm, when was your device purchased? What specific promotion were you to receive?  -Danielle
