Cannot connect with support because my iPhone 16 does not receive short messages

I recently upgraded from an iPhone 12 to an iPhone 16. I am no longer receiving MFA verification codes. I have an Apple M1 MacBook Air. MFA verification codes don't appear there either. Prior to the upgrade, every text message I received on my iPhone came through on my Mac. I read an 2022 message string on this forum that seems to describe the same problem I am having. The answer was that an escalation tech had to use a “short code CA Tool” and that “short messaging for whatever reason was now not included as a feature on my plan” and they needed to add it back in and it worked.
The problem I am having is that I cannot even get to a tech because my new phone is not receiving the verification codes the Verizon is requiring.
I am hoping a Verizion tech will see this message and help me.
