I just ported in my number from AT&T and now i can't send iMessages using my number

You must go into iTunes or iCloud and remove the previous device.
You must then hook to iTunes with the new device to activate it on the service. Takes a few minutes. As long as you have the same apple ID and password it will now work after you turn the device on and off.
Also if iMessage is off turn it on as Verizon wrote above.

you probably did not deactivate iMessage before switching, so it is still trying you old number. B

I would first like to welcome you to the VZW family. Let's make sure you are able to receive your iMessages. When you go to Settings>Message is it showing iMessage is on? If so, please turn off iMessage and then turn back on to update the subscription again. Are you able to receive normal text just fine?
