Connecting iphone to non-data plan?

If I bought an iphone 4 or 4s from somebody privately, and I wanted to hook it up to my non-data family share plan, could I do that? I want to use the phone's wifi, and music player mostly. And maybe upgrade to a data plan later.

Not going to be allowed on the Verizon network.  When you activate the iPhone you will be required to add a data plan of at least $30 (2gb) or be on the Share Everything Plan with at least $50 (1GB) data.

If you want to do WiFi  and music only, buy an iTouch or just don't activate the iPhone on the Verizon network.  Of course then you won't be able use the phone but you wont have to pay for the data plan..

Good luck.
